The former Sperrgebiet (Forbidden Zone, Diamond Area 1) was declared a national park in 2008, exactly 100 years after it had been closed to visitors to protect the diamond industry.
I was commissioned by the Namibian Government to create visual and textual information materials for the new park in 2011. Work was completed almost a year later. Altogether, I spent about a month in the Sperrgebiet itself.
The materials (panels) will be displayed in an information centre at Kolmanskop and at the other entrance points to the park once it is open to the public.
In the meantime, please feel free to download the info materials below.
(I also did the materials for the Ai-Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Park (Fish River Canyon). Those panels are here!)
I am available for assignments and photo workshops/tours in Namibia. I also make and sell fine art prints. Please check my site kiss-of-light. To get in touch.
